Professor Jim McCluskey AO is currently Acting Provost at the University of Melbourne. He previously served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) from 2011-2020. Professor McCluskey has led the development of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, involving a partnership between the University of Melbourne and Melbourne Health.

He is on the Board of Directors of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Florey Neuroscience Institutes, Bionics Institute and is Chair of the Nossal Institute Council and the Board of Nossal Institute Limited. He has received several distinguished awards for his research and in 2012 was elected to the fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science.
