Michael Brennan is an experienced public policy economist who has worked across government, research and the private sector. He is currently CEO of e61, an independent non-partisan economic research institute focused on empirical evidence to support good policy. Prior to this he was the Chair of the Productivity Commission (2015-2023). Michael has been a Deputy Secretary in the Commonwealth Treasury (running the Fiscal Group) and the Victorian Treasury (as Deputy Secretary, Economic). He has worked in consulting at PwC and as a senior adviser to Treasurers and Finance Ministers at the State and Federal level. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from ANU.
