Hon Anthony Albanese PM was shortlisted for the 2022 McKinnon Political Leader of the Year for his constructive, dignified, and positive leadership both throughout the 2022 federal election and since as the 31st Prime Minister of Australia.
The Shortlisting Committee noted Albanese and his government’s contribution to a civil discourse in political debate and noted that Albanese now leads one of the most diverse cabinets in Australian political history. Albanese was recognised by the Shortlisting Committee for his embrace of and public commitment to the implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart within his first term. He was also commended for driving and delivering a challenging legislative agenda including legislating climate targets, wage increases and support in the aged and care systems and a National Anti-Corruption Commission.
