Hon Matthew Kean MP was shortlisted for the 2022 McKinnon Political Leader of the Year for his ongoing commitment to progressing energy and climate policies in NSW and his pursuit of an economic recovery strategy to deliver social good, including improving women’s employment and improving housing affordability.

The Shortlisting Committee acknowledged Kean’s strong vision and track record in delivery across a wide range of policy issues including climate change, childcare and paid parental leave.  Further, the Committee acknowledged Kean as a state politician who has established an impactful national voice and influence, in particular on energy reform. Kean was recognised by the Committee as a prominent voice in the debate over federal government intervention on coal and gas prices in late 2022.
